Scam Emails and Phishing

    Criminals soliciting for client’s financial information send scam emails to illegally obtain personal information from them. Phishing is a specific type of scams that imitate trustworthy sources to steal sensitive information (such as Debit/Credit card numbers, password, account data, etc.) for fraudulent purposes.
    To avoid scam emails and phishing, please take note of the following:

  • Do not respond to suspicious emails or click unknown links.
  • Globus Bank will never ask you for your personal or security details via email. If it feels off, it most definitely is.
  • Exercise extreme caution when shopping online. Only enter your personal information on websites you trust.
  • Regularly employ the banks online services (Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, SMS banking or ATM Banking) to monitor activity on your account to detect fraudulent transactions if any.

Credit/Debit Card and PIN
  • Secure your Debit Card and Personal Identification Number (PIN) like you would secure your money.

Other GENERAL SECURITY TIPS
  • Never use public Wi-Fi while performing any financial transactions online.
  • Always confirm that the website is secure before inserting your login details it must display this “Https”, otherwise Do not input any of your personal information.
  • Make use of strong passwords with a minimum of ten (10) characters comprising of Upper Case, Lower Case, special characters, and numbers.
  • Do not use the same password for different applications and accounts.
  • Ensure to log out from the portal when you are through carrying out your transactions online or when not in use at the moment.
  • Always ensure that the website you intend to put in your debit/credit card number or any other personal information is secure.
  • Protect your mobile device and SIM card with a PIN.
  • Always keep your debit/credit cards secured to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Ensure that others do not see your PIN when entering it in the ATM or POS machines.
  • If you receive an email from an individual or a company requesting for a One Time Password (OTP) or any personal information do not provide it even when you think it looks like a genuine request from Globus Bank.
